TED10401 Red Carpet Dresses Get the look for less.A big part of our job here at the Red Carpet Dresses Shop is to research the current trends and fashions being worn by celebrities and bring our passion and findings to you!  As fans of the stylings of the red carpet, it is undoubted that not only do you like the fashion but you want it for yourself as well!  However how many of us can afford the thousand dollar price tag that goes along with this look?

Red Carpet Dresses at the 2011 Oscars!

In our last post we looked at red carpet dresses and how they come in all different shapes and sizes!  As big fans here at the red carpet dresses shop, we though it was only appropriate to analyse all the glitz and glamour of the recent scenes at the 2011 Oscars.  This way we can share with you our top favourite dresses and our least favourite!  We also invite you to comment and share with us your favourite red carpet dresses from this event!

Top 3 worst 2011 Oscar Red Carpet Dresses.

Amy Adams 2011 Oscars 174x300 Red Carpet Dresses at the 2011 Oscars! The first dress on our list of the worst dressed at the Oscars, ranking third worst according to our grading goes to Amy Adams.  Amy Adams wore L’Wren Scott. Her jewellery was priced at $1.35 million dollars with a Cartier emerald and diamond.  Despite the expensive price tag, we feel the blue bejewelled dress was overall just too much for the eyes.  The colour of the dress itself was magnificent but the seemingly glitter look of it was almost as though she was playing dress ups.  Despite her outstanding beauty she didn’t manage to pull this one off unfortunately!

cate blanchett 2011 oscars 181x300 Red Carpet Dresses at the 2011 Oscars! The second worst dressed award goes to Cate Blanchett.  Cate wore a Givenchy Couture dress with yellow detailing on the black along.  She accompanied this dress with Van Cleef & Arpels jewellery.  Between the beading, pleating and somewhat strange shoulder structure of the dress it was a look that the normally exquisitely dressed Cate could not pull of.

1604e0d3600c9ebb 83rd Annual Academy Awards Arrivals zk49vQwcmlYl.preview 199x300 Red Carpet Dresses at the 2011 Oscars! Finally the worst dressed award goes to Virginia Madsens red carpet dress made by Romona Keveza.  The white and black dress had a stunning silhouette but seemed to made of terrible and cheap fabric, with excessive feathers in the top region and seemingly crushed velvet on the bottom.  The two did not mix too well, leaving an unfortunate scene and resulting in Virginia gaining the top position on the worst of the red carpet dresses at this years Oscars!

Top 3 favourite 2011 Oscar Red Carpet Dresses

jennifer lawrence 2011 oscars 02 150x300 Red Carpet Dresses at the 2011 Oscars!Top third position in our eyes is awarded to Jennifer Lawrence.  She wore a dress from the Calvin Klein Collection by designer Francisco Costa, Jimmy Choo platform sandals and finished with Chopard jewellery.  It was a very simple dress in bold red.  It emphasized her amazing body.  The simplicity of the dress made her look very elegant and stunning.  Overall Jennifer you are a winner!

18281163 natalie portman 2011 Oscars 165x300 Red Carpet Dresses at the 2011 Oscars!Number two goes to Natalie Portman.  She wore a stunning violet Silf Chiffon Draped dress designed by Rodarte, which did nothing but flatter her beautiful pregnant figure.  The outfit was completed with Swarovski Crystals, Jimmy Choo shoes and Tiffany & Co. jewellery.  She simply looked stunning in her red carpet dress and and we wish her all the best with the rest of her pregnancy!

2011 Oscars Mila Kunis is Elie Saab Couture 210x300 Red Carpet Dresses at the 2011 Oscars! Finally our best dressed of the night award goes to Mila Kunis with the most stunning of all red carpet dresses (in our opinion anyway).  The beautiful dress was a lavender chiffon gown with layered lace detailing and ribbon waisting made by Elie Saab Haute Couture.  Her look was finished through beautiful jewellery made by Neil Lane.  Overall this dress was fresh and young still staying elegant and class all the way.  Mila Kunis you really picked a winner!

So there you have our best and worst picks of this years Oscars red carpet dresses!  Share with us your red carpet favourites (and not so favourites!) and we look forward to seeing you again very soon!

Red Carpet Dresses

Red carpet dresses are the envy of nearly every single woman on this planet! Maybe it is just because we always see them on our beloved celebrities, but they always seem so glamorous and wonderful. They come in so many different shapes and colours and often carry a designer label though, making them seem unobtainable to all of us who aren’t carrying that illusive celebrity status!

What is it that defines red carpet dresses?

red carpet dresses Red Carpet DressesBesides the fact that you see the celebrities wearing them at awards presentations, red carpet dresses can really be any sort of dress. They are not restricted at all by colour, ranging from pastels, to white and black to bold colours such as red and blue. Sometimes the brave even wear metallic colours such as purple! Celebrities also do not keep their dresses as simple as one colour, but splurge into fabulous patterns

Red carpet dresses are not restricted by length either. They range from full length to shin length, knee length, just above the knee and even the mini dress! Their outlines vary dramatically from the full hour glass, to strapless, strapped, a-line, halter-neck and the one shouldered red carpet dresses. Dresses can also be tight (seemingly almost a part of the body), free flowing or even a mixture of both such as the baby doll dress.

The dresses are anything but dull and boring especially with all the embellishments they have. This can include attached flowers, ruffles, lace, sheer sections, sequins, ribbons, jewels and pleating. And of course the clincher for the dress itself includes the accessories, such as hairdos, jewellery, the purses and of course the shoes! Basically as you can see from the pictures, there is no definition as to what constitutes red carpet dresses.

How do I get hold of red carpet dresses?

Firstly you can buy the actual dresses that the celebrities wear, however this option can cost you thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars. That is just for the dress, not even including the accessories! Alternatively, if you want the look without the excessive price tag, learn about your body shape and the styles that suit you! Find that illusive “million dollar dress” and feel like your wear one of those amazing red carpet dresses. Be your own celebrity today!
